Good to Know: Hours, Timing, and What to Wear

Hotel pickup for this full-day guided tour of Cappadocia usually happens between 09:00 and 09:30, and you'll be back at your hotel around 17:00 to 18:00. The sites you'll stop at, including the Göreme Open-Air Museum (a cluster of rock-cut churches and monasteries), the underground cities, and other historical spots, keep their own hours, generally opening at 08:00 or 09:00 and closing anywhere from 17:00 to 19:00 depending on the season. Your guide sets the pace for the day, so it helps to stick to the schedule so the group gets plenty of time at each stop.

Dress casual and comfortable. You'll be on your feet a good bit, with some light walking on dirt paths and uneven ground, so closed-toe shoes with decent grip make a real difference. Several of the stops are cave churches and other religious sites, so it's best to keep your shoulders and knees covered when you go inside.
