Good to Know Before You Go

The day starts with hotel pickup, usually between 09:00 and 09:30, and runs until roughly 17:00 to 18:00. The sites you'll visit, including the Göreme Open-Air Museum and the underground city, keep their own hours, generally around 08:00 or 09:00 to 17:00 or 19:00, and those can shift with the season. Your guide sets the pace and order of stops to keep everyone moving and get the most out of each one, so it helps to stay with the group's timing.

Dress casual and comfortable, since there's a good amount of walking and some light hiking on dirt paths and uneven ground. Closed-toe shoes with real grip are the way to go. At the cave churches and other religious sites, plan to cover your shoulders and knees out of respect.
