Good to Know Before Your Cappadocia ATV Tour

ATV tours in Cappadocia run daily throughout the year, weather permitting. Departure times depend on the operator and the length you pick, but the two most popular slots are the pre-dawn ride timed to catch first light and the late-afternoon ride that ends with sunset over the valleys. Both fill up fast, so book ahead if you want a specific time. Tours typically last one or two hours.

Dress for dust. Long pants and closed-toe shoes with a bit of grip are the way to go, and skip sandals, flip-flops, or anything open-toed. Bring layers, since it can be cool at sunrise and sunset even when the afternoon is warm, and a light jacket is worth having in the colder months. A hat or scarf helps keep the sun and trail dust off your face.

The route passes through Love Valley, just outside Goreme on the Avanos road, where tall fairy chimneys, cones of soft volcanic tuff capped with harder basalt, rise well above head height. There is no gate or ticket booth at the valley itself, and the dirt tracks the ATVs follow reach spots that are hard to get to on your own.
