Good to Know Before Your Ride
Rides run at several times through the day, and the sunrise and sunset slots fill up fastest, both for the light over the rock formations and the cooler air. Book ahead in high season to lock in the time you want. Your hotel pickup is arranged as part of the tour, so you're brought to the stables and back.
Dress for the saddle: long pants or jeans keep your legs from chafing, and a long-sleeved shirt helps with the sun. Wear closed-toe shoes or boots with a low heel so your feet sit securely in the stirrups, and skip anything loose or flowing that could snag on the horse or tack. In the colder months, layer up. Helmets are handed out at the stable.
