Istanbul Combo: Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia & Topkapi Tickets with Audio Guide
About this tour
Three of Istanbul's landmarks on a single combo ticket: the Basilica Cistern, an underground Byzantine reservoir lined with columns and the famous Medusa heads; Hagia Sophia; and Topkapi Palace, home of the Ottoman sultans. An audio guide is included for each site, so you can move at your own pace through the Harem, the Imperial Treasury, and the palace courtyards overlooking the Bosphorus. All three sit within walking distance of each other in Sultanahmet.
Highlights
- Step inside the Harem, the private living quarters of the sultan and his family
- See the jewels, ceremonial weapons, and treasures of the Imperial Treasury
- Walk the palace courtyards and gardens overlooking the Bosphorus
- View sacred Islamic relics in the Holy Relics Chamber
- Take in the Iznik tilework and Ottoman detailing across the palace complex
- Walk among the 336 marble columns of the cistern, each carved differently
- Find the two Medusa-head column bases and the legends behind them
- Experience the unique atmosphere created by the combination of water, light, and ancient architecture.
- Learn how the cistern once supplied water to the Great Palace of Constantinople
- Cool off underground, away from the crowds in the streets above

Opening Hours and Dress Code
Topkapi Palace is open every day except Tuesdays. From April 1 to October 1 the hours are 09:00 to 18:00, and from October 1 to April 1 they are 09:00 to 17:00. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing, and the palace is closed on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. There is no formal dress code, but avoid very revealing clothing if you plan to combine your visit with Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque nearby, and wear comfortable shoes since the complex involves a lot of walking.
The Basilica Cistern runs on two daily sessions. There is no dress code here either, though modest clothing helps if you are also visiting the nearby mosques. Because the interior is damp with uneven footing, supportive, non-slip shoes are a good idea.
Check the official site for current visiting times before you go.Available Days / Times
