About Sapanca
Sapanca is a small town in Turkiye's Sakarya province, sitting between Istanbul and Ankara in the country's northwest. Most people come for Lake Sapanca, the freshwater lake the town is named after, which is ringed by wooded hills and low mountains. The setting is green and fairly damp, so the surrounding forests stay lush well into summer. It's close enough to Istanbul to work as a day trip, though a lot of visitors treat it as a weekend base and stay a night or two in one of the lakeside hotels or bungalows.
