Miniaturk is an open-air miniature park on the northern shore of Istanbul's Golden Horn, laying out more than 135 of Turkiye's best-known buildings and monuments as detailed scale models built at 1/25 size. The range is wide: Ottoman mosques and palaces, ancient ruins from across Anatolia, and landmarks you'd otherwise need weeks and several plane tickets to see in person. Everything sits along a walking route through the grounds, so you can pass from a model of the Hagia Sophia to a Roman-era theater in a few steps.

The scale means the detail holds up close, and the models are laid out with enough space around them that you're walking among them rather than peering over rails at a distance. It's a straightforward way to get the shape of the country's architecture in one afternoon, and it tends to work well with kids, who have room to move and something recognizable to look at rather than long stretches of text. Audio guides are available in several languages and talk you through each model as you go, which is the easiest way to know what you're actually looking at.

The park is outdoors, so it's best on a dry day and worth thinking about in the heat of high summer, when shade is limited. Plan on a couple of hours to walk the full circuit at a relaxed pace. Entry is a paid, ticketed arrangement, and because Miniaturk sits a little away from the main old-city sights, it pairs more naturally with other stops around the Golden Horn than with a Sultanahmet walking day. Fast-track or skip-the-line tickets get you past the entrance queue, which is the main line you'll encounter here.
