The Istanbul Sapphire is one of the tallest buildings in Turkiye, and its observation deck sits on the 64th floor, 231 metres above the ground. It's in Kagithane, on the European side, a bit north of the city center rather than in the old historic peninsula. The building itself is a residential and retail tower, so the deck is the part most visitors come for. Getting up there is quick: the high-speed elevators climb at around 20 kilometres per hour, so you're at the top in well under a minute.

From the deck you get a wide, open look over the city, its streets, the bridges spanning the water, and the Bosphorus, the strait that divides Istanbul between Europe and Asia. On a clear day you can pick out how the city sprawls across both continents, which is hard to appreciate from the ground. Some tickets also include a 4D Skyride, a short motion-based ride that adds an extra bit of entertainment to the visit, though it isn't part of every ticket, so check what yours covers before you book.

The Sapphire sits away from the main cluster of old-city sights like Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, so it's less of a natural pairing with a historic-peninsula walking day and more of a standalone stop. It's reachable by metro, with a station close to the tower, which makes it straightforward to get to without a car. Views are best on a clear day, so if the weather is hazy or overcast it's worth timing your visit around better conditions to get the most out of the height.
