Yildiz Palace sits on a hill above the Besiktas district on the European side of Istanbul. The simplest way to reach it by public transport is to take a bus to Besiktas and then walk uphill to the entrance. Give yourself two to three hours to cover the State Apartments, the porcelain factory, the theatre, and the surrounding park at an unhurried pace.
Opening hours shift with the season and the day of the week, so it's worth confirming the current schedule before you head over. There's no strict dress code, though modest clothing is appropriate given the site's history. Wear comfortable shoes, since you'll be on your feet and walking a fair bit.
