Good to Know Before You Go

Pamukkale and the neighboring ancient city of Hierapolis are open every day, and you can enter through more than one gate. Which gate you pick matters: it affects how early you can arrive, how long you can stay, and how well you dodge the busiest hours. The South Gate keeps the widest window, 06:00 to 23:00, so it suits both sunrise visitors and anyone showing up late in the day. The Northern Gate, entered on foot, runs 08:00 to 21:00 and works well if you'd rather walk down through the Hierapolis ruins before you reach the terraces.

A couple of spots inside the site run on their own hours. Cleopatra's Pool, where you can swim among sunken marble columns, is open 08:00 to 20:00 and needs a separate ticket. The Hierapolis Archaeology Museum keeps the same 08:00 to 20:00 schedule, and it's worth heading there earlier in your visit rather than right before it shuts.
