About this tour
The Whirling Dervishes ceremony, or Sema, is a Sufi ritual that dates back some 800 years. Dressed in flowing white robes, the dervishes turn in slow, rhythmic circles as an act of devotion. Your ticket covers the one-hour show inside the Hodjapasha Culture Center, a former Ottoman bathhouse in Istanbul that's more than 550 years old and has been restored as a performance hall. You'll also have access to an exhibition of dervish artifacts that explains the meaning behind what you're watching.
