Two Hours in the Saddle: How the Sunset Ride Works

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Cappadocia. Timing shifts day by day since the ride is planned around sunset, so your exact start time is confirmed for the date you book. After a short transfer you meet your horse and guide, put on your helmet, and set off.

The route covers four of the area's best known valleys: Kiliclar Valley, Meskendir Valley, Rose Valley, and Love Valley, each named for the shape or color of its rock formations. You ride at an easy pace along quiet trails, passing carved rock walls and fairy chimneys that turn pink and gold in the evening light. Horseback is one of the few ways to reach these paths, so the perspective is genuinely different from a bus or jeep tour.

The ride itself lasts about two hours and is run as a group tour in English. None of the valleys charge entrance fees, so there is nothing extra to pay on the trail. Photos and videos are offered at additional cost if you want them, and food and drinks are not included. When the ride ends you are driven back to your hotel.
